The story of the Gabriel Meffre Winery began in 1936, when Gabriel and his wife, both passionate about wine, created their ‘Négociant-Vinificateur’ business in Gigondas. Over the years Maison Gabriel Meffre continued to pursue its development, its quest for quality and innovation, while uniting men and women who share a common passion for great wine. In the heart of the Southern Rhône Valley, in Gigondas, that Gabriel Meffre Winery established its roots. At the foot of the majestic Dentelles de Montmirail mountains and not far from the Mont Ventoux, or Giant of Provence, lie the exceptional crus of our region. Almost 80 years later, the family business has built on its strong foundations and has established its reputation as a leading Winery in the southern Rhone Valley, with the complementary know-how linked to being both ‘Négociant-Eleveur’ and Producer, recognised for the quality of its wines.
Véronique Torcolacci - Head Winemaker. Ask Véronique why she wanted to become an oenologist and you will see her eyes light up! "Wine is a noble, magical product that is constantly evolving. I discovered this universe at an early age thanks to my parents who always had a good bottle or two to open on Sundays. I love its aromas and colours and so, given that I definitely wasn’t keen to become a teacher like my parents wanted, I chose oenology!" Commitment and passion are her two driving forces which have enabled her to rise to this challenge for the past 20 years!For each bottle of wine and through the vintages, the objective of Véronique and her team remains the same: never to make the slightest compromise on quality.
