Valdespino
About the Brand

Valdespino is one of the worlds most historic and respected Sherry houses, with family involvement in the Jerez wine trade dating back to 1430. Renowned for its vineyard-led approach, traditional methods and long-aged solera wines, Valdespino has long been a benchmark for quality, serving as a purveyor to the Royal House of Spain since 1883 and the Royal House of Sweden since 1932. Still family-owned following its acquisition by the Estevez family in 1999, Valdespino continues to earn international recognition. In New Zealand, this excellence was affirmed in 2025 when El Candado Pedro Ximenez claimed the Trophy for Best Fortified Wine at the New Zealand International Wine Show.

Winemaker Profile

With an unwavering commitment to the rigour and cost of traditional Jerez winemaking, Eduardo Ojeda, Valdespinos long-standing Technical Director and Head Winemaker, is regarded as one of the most respected figures in the Sherry region. Widely recognised for his deep technical expertise and uncompromising approach, Ojeda champions minimal intervention, long ageing and vineyard expression, working with some of Jerezs oldest and most historic soleras. Under his stewardship, Valdespino has earned consistent international acclaim for producing Sherries of exceptional purity, intensity and authenticity, firmly positioning the house as a benchmark for traditional, world-class Sherry.
