This year, our portfolio truly shone at the New Zealand International Wine Show 2025, taking home three major trophies, including the evenings highest honour, Champion Wine of the Show, awarded to Piper-Heidsieck Essentiel. Beyond the standout wins, our portfolio earned 5 Double Gold Medals, 17 Gold Medals, and 18 Silver Medals, cementing our reputation for world- class wines across New Zealands largest and most prestigious wine competition.

Champion Wine of the Show & Trophy for Champion Champagne & Methode TraditionellePiper-Heidsieck Essentiel

Piper-Heidsieck Essentiel shone at the NZ International Wine Show 2025, being crowned Champion Wine of the Show, the highest accolade of the evening, recognising its elegance, finesse, and expressive depth.

Adding to the success, this champagne was also awarded the Trophy for Champion Champagne & Mthode Traditionelle, highlighting its precision, vibrant character, and masterful craftsmanship.

Piper-Heidsieck 'Essential' Cuve Rserve Extra Brut: an A-lister champagne, a subtle blend of slowly matured and young wines, aged in the Piper-Heidsieck cellars for four years, proudly displaying its provanance and spirit of craftmanship on the bottle for those who like to be in the know and in the Now. Trophy for Champion Fortified Wine Valdespino El Candado Pedro Ximenez Sherry, Spain

Valdespino El Candado Pedro Ximenez was awarded the Trophy for Champion Fortified Wine. Judges were impressed by its luscious sweetness, layers of dried fruit, and delicate spice.

It pours like liquid mahogany, offering a decadent nose of raisins, espresso and toffee.The luxurious palate has unfolding layers of Medjool dates, fig jam and dark molasses.

Pedro Ximénez El Candado

Intense mahogany in colour. Full of dried fruit flavours of raisins, figs, molasses, nuts, chocolate and very elegant sweet notes. On the palate it is complex, rich, velvety and very smooth with a long aftertaste.

Double Gold Winners

To be awarded an NZIWS Double Gold Medal, a wine will be required to receive 'unanimous gold medal scores' from the Chief Judge, the three Assistant Chief Judges, and the three-person Senior Judging team.
