Cointreau is crafted in our unique distillery in Angers, France guarded by our Master Distiller Carole Quinton. According to the method defined by Edouard Cointreau in 1885, the orange liqueur is distilled in traditional copper alembics. Every drop of Cointreau is made from only four natural ingredients: orange peels, alcohol, water and sugar. It all starts at the source. Sweet and bitter orange peels are the quintessence of Cointreau. We ensure to select the best oranges in the best orange grove to create the purest product. Once oranges are collected, the peeling process begins : a meticulous manual labor of hand peeling. After being sun dried for three to five days, we obtain a quality assembly of different orange peels, perfectly balanced to maintain the same taste that Edouard Cointreau created. At the sunset, the Distillation ritual can begin in the alembic's hall. Following a rigorous process, blending fresh and dried, bitter and sweet, enable to recreate the unprecedented and distinctive aromatic balance.
