Grape Variety: 100% Pinot Noir
Growing Region: Marlborough, New Zealand
Chief Winemaker: Matt Thomson
TASTING NOTE:
All the fruit for this bright and lively Pinot Noir came from their own vineyards: The Falcon Vineyard, Quarry Block, Pinot Envy (Phil Binnie's home block) in the Wairau Valley, and the Eyrie Vineyard in the Lower Waihopai Valley of the Marlborough province.
Harvested in the cool of the evening to retain as much fresh varietal characters as possibly, before being crushing and fermenting in 5000 litre open top stainless steel tanks. Then racked into French oak barrels for eight months aging and secondary malolactic fermentation. Then before bottling the wines was lightly egg white fined.
In your glass you have a ruby red colour. The nose is showing hints of spicy plum and red cherry. The mouth feel is medium bodied, with a soft, round palate, with well balanced acidity, supple tannins and bright flavours. Spicy plum and red cherries dominate the palate which is supported by fine grained oak tannins and nuances of red currant and a hint of forest floor. Serve at 18C.
