Grape Variety: 100% Riesling
Growing Region: Waipara, New Zealand
Chief Winemaker: Simon McGeorge
TASTING NOTE:
"How do I love thee? Let me count the ways". A poem by Elizabeth Barrett Browning.
That's how I feel about Riesling, such a vibrant, dynamic wine on the palate and such a versatile wine to match and compliment so many dishes here in New Zealand with our fresh ingredients, seafood and Asian infused cuisine.
This bright and well balanced wine - is the coming together and the understanding of what the winemaker has to work with - the unique terroir, site location and the 'sense of place' that Simon has achieved in his Riesling that is a pleasure to savour and share.
100% of the fruit for this wine was selected from their own Waipara valley vineyard - The Mound. The vineyards had a relatively cool growing season and some rain during the harvest period meant plenty of work bringing in the fruit all at once, but the stable and warm summer leading up produced great flavours and aromatics. 100% Stainless steel fermentation was used to retain the fresh fruit characters of this wine.
In the glass you have a pale green colour, with flashes of yellow. The nose is full of ripe apple and lime with a touch of floral notes. The wine is medium in weight with a lively mineral acidity through the middle palate. The flavours of apple and lime carry on through to a bright and refreshing finish.
CELLARING POTENTIAL:
Drinking perfectly well this summer; and well into 2010.
SUGGESTED FOOD MATCHES:
