Grape Variety: 100% Sauvignon Blanc
Growing Region: Marlborough, New Zealand
*Winemaking: Consultant Team
TASTING NOTE:
A few hardy New Zealand grape growers formed a 'growers' co-operative initiative' early this year - the Farmers Market Wine Company. They are all people of the land and believe good wine is made in the vineyard, before the winemaker. They believe in unadulterated, uncluttered abundance of flavour and they believe in their community - New Zealand, keeping the profits here, ploughing it back into the land and the community.
The fruit for this wine came predominately from the Wairau Valley, and such this wine exhibits classic Marlborough Sauvignon Blanc characteristics. In the glass you have the palest straw colour, with hints of green and gold. The bouquet is typically intensely aromatic with passion-fruit, stone fruit, cut grass and tomato leaf. Then on the palate - you have ripe fruit flavours abound with again passion-fruit, stone fruit and hints of Jalapeno giving another dimension to a very lively mouth feel. The wine finishes well with natural fruit sweetness and good lingering acidity.
