Wine of the Week
Torea Marlborough Pinot Noir 2008
15 September 2009

Grape Variety: 100% Pinot Noir

Growing Region: Brancott Valley, Marlborough, New Zealand

Owner / Winemaker: Stuart Smith

TASTING NOTE:
Ken and Jill Small who established Fairhall Downs Estate in the early 1980's, and more recently their son in-law Stuart Smith; business partner and passionate vineyard viticulturist, are behind this exciting new range of fruit driven wines under the Torea label.

The fruit for this wine was hand harvested, and then went through 3 weeks maceration and wild ferment - followed by ageing in both stainless steel tank and French barriques.

This Pinot has a deep dark colour that fills the glass. On the nose you have intense aromas and flavours of cherries, raspberries and strawberries. The palate is rich and fruit driven, with subtle but well integrated natural acidity, tannin and oak that gives structure and a good finish to the wine. This summer look to serve this Pinot Noir at 15-16 degrees.

CELLARING POTENTIAL:
Drinking perfectly well now; and over the next 2-3 years.

SUGGESTED FOOD MATCHES:
Perfect wine match with cooked ham, roast pork and chicken cooked with herbs and spices, enjoy.
