Grape Variety: 100% Sauvignon Blanc
Growing Region: Martinborough, New Zealand
Senior Winemaker: Roger Parkinson
TASTING NOTE:
I have always had a special place in my cellar for Martinborough wines. They never cease to entice and excite my palate, and on more than one occasion, have stumped my wine friends when we have wine options at my house.
It has been said and proved for centuries that some of the best wines come from marginal regions, soils and climates. Making wine in Martinborough is not easy, but winemakers like Roger from Nga Waka, like others from challenging wine regions around the world, have this sixth sense and unique understanding of the vines and seasonal weather to create wine of distinction and wines that are best enjoyed with good food and good friends.
If you give Nga Waka wines a little more thought to when to serve and with which cuisine to best serve them with, I can ensure you an experience that you will want to repeat.
This wine is a pale green/gold in the glass. The bouquet has capsicum and passion-fruit flavours threaded with mineral notes. The palate is intense and persistent, from this expressive Martinborough Sauvignon Blanc fruit. Note: do not serve this wine too chilled, serve at approx: 10C.
CELLARING POTENTIAL:
Drinking perfectly well now; and over the next 18-24 months.
SUGGESTED FOOD MATCHES:
Perfect wine match with freshly caught shell-fish, Asian and vegetarian cuisine.
