Grape Variety: 90% Sangiovese, 10% Canaiolo & Colorino Toscano
Growing Region: Chianti Region, Tuscany, Italy
Senior Winemaker: Andrea Cecchi
TASTING NOTE:
I had the pleasure of visiting Andrea, his brother Cesare and the new family winery in 2007. As you arrive in Tuscany, all of your senses are confronted from every direction with picture postcard scenery, architecture, and the history and traditions are evident in everything that you see, taste and smell. Grapes have to simply love growing here. This Chianti Classico is the flagship wine of the Cecchi family, which fully represents the family's tradition, history and compliments perfectly with the local cuisine.
Fermentation was carried out in stainless steel tanks at a controlled temperature, after which it underwent a period of ageing in small capacity oak barrels and barrique casks for about 12 months. Refining continued in the bottle for a minimum of three months, and has guaranteed a well-structured, elegant wine,
In the glass you have an intense, ruby red colour, which tends towards a granite colour with age. On the nose it is full, rich and vinous, characterized by hints of violets. On the palate it is harmonized by a dry, full-flavoured, well balanced mouth feel, with a pleasant lingering finish.
CELLARING POTENTIAL:
Drinking perfectly well this coming summer; and over the next 2-3 years.
SUGGESTED FOOD MATCHES:
Perfect wine match with roasted or grilled meats and a traditional thin-based pizza, enjoy.
A must have wine in your everyday drinking cellar.
