Grape Variety: 100% Pinot Gris
Growing Region: Wairau & Awatere Valleys, Marlborough
Chief Winemaker: Jules Taylor
TASTING NOTE:
You simply have to love the zest for life that Jules has with everything that she does. I'm sure a little of this 'joie de vivre' falls into every bottle of Jules Taylor wine, as this example if full of life.
Jules is always looking to bring out the best in each variety and vintage, this wine being no different. With roughly 15% of the juice being transferred to older oak barrels. Where fermentation took place with indigenous yeast strains, this was followed by partial malolactic fermentation. Regular stirring of the lees over the 5 month barrel maturation period was undertaken resulting in good structure and mouth feel to this wine. On the nose you have aromas of sweet quince and Nashi pears and hints of these characters carry onto the palate.
This well made wine has complexity and texture on the palate that has resulted in a luscious wine with good weight and a well balanced lingering finish.
CELLARING POTENTIAL:
Drinking well now and will repay time in the cellar of 2-3 years.
SUGGESTED FOOD MATCHES:
Perfect match with chicken salads, Asian dishes, and an antipasti platter enjoy.
