Grape Varieties: Shiraz 45%, Grenache 45%, Mourvedre 10%
Growing Region: McLaren Vale
Winemaker: Geoff Merrill
TASTING NOTE:
This 2004 is possibly the best vintage in McLaren Vale of the new millenium. Great fruit concentration, good acidity and tannins with a tendency towards spicy fruit really shows off what the 'McLaren Vale' region of Australia can do when everything comes together in balance.
The colour is an attractive vibrant ruby red of good depth and clarity. Select parcels of Shiraz and Grenache have been blended for their wonderful spicy, perfumed aromas and vibrant fruit characters. Mourvedre adds weight and structure to the palate which is fleshy and savoury. The tannins are intergrated and in balance with the fruity intensity. A good level of acidity provides structure and finishes the wine on a clean note.
