Taylors 'St Andrews' Clare Valley Cabernet Sauvignon 2006
To commemorate our 40th Anniversary we have released a limited volume of what we believe to be our finest Cabernet Sauvignon yet.
Individually selected from outstanding parcels of Cabernet from our St Andrews vineyard, it is a fitting reflection of the deep rooted faith in the viticultural potential of the Clare Valley upon which our company's vision was founded.
This is a distinguished wine from an exceptional vintage. Bright, polished and perfectly poised it is proudly varietal, presenting a swathe of cassis, cedar, fragrant mint and dry tobacco leaf characters. It is a wine whose intricate complexities give way to an alluring delicacy. It finishes long, lithe and pure and exemplifies a refined varietal structure that is the hallmark of great Cabernet Sauvignon.
Only 489 dozen were produced and only 30 dozen of these are available in New Zealand. Packaged beautifully, in a black luxury gift box signed by all three generations of the Taylor family. This includes a full colour commemorative booklet detailing the Taylors history and the vinification of this one of a kind wine.
Wine Review:
James Halliday rates this wine 95/100
Good colour, a very well made and balanced wine that has clear cut varietal expression on both bouquet and the medium-bodies palate, blackcurrant, cassis and cedar intermingling, the tannins are fine and oak balanced and integrated. - (Sept. 2010)
