The MUNDUSvini International Wine Award was first held in 2001. Even at its debut, it registered 2235 entries from all the major wine-growing regions in the world. And record participation in 2010 shows just how important the competition has meanwhile become in Germany. 5,883 wines were entered. Today MUNDUSvini is the largest officially recognised wine competition in the world.
The MUNDUSvini panel of tasters consisted of 285 experts from 47 countries including Masters of Wine, wine journalists, leading sommeliers and buyers from international department stores, retailers, importers and winemakers.
Kilikanoon shines at the prestigious MUNDUSvini awards in Germany - Winery of the Year, 4 Great Gold and 2 Gold Medals.
This comes hot on the heels of Kilikanoon's recent Best of Nation award at the 2010 San Francisco International Wine Competition and Top 100 Winery of 2010 from Wine & Spirit Magazine in the US. The 2006 Oracle Shiraz, 2006 Covenant Shiraz, 2006 Killerman's Run Shiraz Grenache and 2005 Parable Shiraz all received MUNDUSvini Great Gold awards, with 2005 Testament Shiraz and 2007 Killerman's Run Shiraz, Gold Medals.
Only 33 Great Gold Medals were awarded and no less than 4 of them to Kilikanoon Wines. Kilikanoon is certainly establishing itself as one of the world's finest boutique wineries and in the words of James Halliday an "outstanding winery regularly producing wines of exemplary quality and typicity." - Australian Wine Companion 2011 edition.
"As a passionate winemaker and true believer in the strengths of regional flavour and terroir, I am deeply honoured to bring home such brilliant accolades for both Kilikanoon and the Australian wine industry" - Kilikanoon winemaker & founder, Kevin Mitchell.
