Nugan Estate is celebrating a double dose of international success. At the 2010 Decanter World Wine Awards in London the Nugan Estate McLaren Vale Shiraz 2008 scooped the highly contested 'Trophy for Best Australian Shiraz/ Red Rhone Varietal' over UK10 pounds.
This massive international award coincides with the 2010 Australian & New Zealand Wine Industry Directory announcing Nugan Estate has successfully grown its ranking by value amongst the Top 20 Australian Exporters, to now rank as Australia's 11th Largest Exporter by Value, growing an amazing 6 rankings from the previous year.
This international success follows on from family-owned Nugan Estate being a Finalist for Australian Wine Producer of the Year at the 2009 International Wine & Spirit Competition (IWSC) in London at the close of last year with their 2006 Nugan Estate Coonawarra Cabernet Sauvignon topping the Coonawarra Cabernet Class for its vintage.
Dynamic trio behind the Nugan Estate brand, brother and sister, Matthew and Tiffany Nugan and Chief Winemaker, Daren Owers, are ecstatic about these two recent announcements stating:
"The last year has been extremely tough with the global economic crisis. This International Trophy for our single vineyard McLaren Vale Shiraz coinciding with our winery growing 6 places to be Australia's 11th Largest Exporter is a fantastic achievement.
We feel very proud of our team. It demonstrates our family's passion, hard graft and strategy to grow the premium wine segment is working. The family is dedicated quality and telling the Australian regional story and this international Trophy demonstrates the world's wine judges and consumers are responding, which is a great result for us and the Australian wine industry".
