Produced by the Telles Family in Brazil since 1846, YPIOCA CACHACA is a spirit distilled from the pure juice of sugar cane.
Five generations mark their history as the oldest active company in Brazil still in the hands of the same family who still maintain 100% private ownership, current production capacity is up to 126 million litres per year. With more than 160 years of tradition, 5 distilleries and its own sugar cane plantation fields, the Ypioca Company is the only large distiller with 100% of its bottled cachaca originating from its own estate. Being responsible for every stage in the production process; from the selection of the sugar-cane seeds and plantation, to the aging and bottling process, allows for strict control and quality assurances.
This cocktail is all about flavour. It has the double citrus flavour of lemon juice and the scent of lemongrass (Takrai is actually Thai for lemongrass). This is balanced by the sweet flavour of fresh muddled pineapple and sugar syrup. Of course the special flavour of Ypioca cachaca is the star here. Ypioca Ouro Cachaca is given it's characteristic taste by its barrelling process in the Spicy, South American, Balsamo Tree Wood. The Balsamo tree is used in many ways, not only to make barrels for Ypioca cachca, the resin from the wood is also known to flavour a wide variety of confectionaries in Latin America, from ice cream to chewing gum and the seeds are used to flavour aguardiente, a popular alcoholic beverage in Latin America. It is available in unique bottles hand covered with interlaced carnauba straw, by local artisans.
Awarded a Gold medal at the International Cane Spirit Festival & Tasting Competition in Tampa Florida, 2007.
