JURA - 1984

George Orwell's dystopian novel "Nineteen Eighty-Four", published in 1949, was written during the authors stay on the Isle of Jura, a place he considered the "Most unget-at-able place in the world".

This novel is the creation point for many terms and concepts used regularly in modern times, including: 'Big Brother', '2+2=5', 'thought crime' and 'doublethink'.

To honour the isle's place in the creation of one of the most influential books in modern history the Jura Distillery produced a Single Malt extremely rare and unique. Distilled in the year 1984, and 30 years in the making the JURA 1984 Vintage Single Malt is all about taking things slow, aged in American White Oak, Amoroso and Apostoles Oloroso sherry butt casks. Some say patience is rewarded with hints of honey and vanilla, while others enjoy ripe pineapple, bitter chocolate and Morello cherries - after all, who says there's only one version of the truth?
