This cocktail was modified from a recipe that dates back over 200 years and is the first recorded drink using a straw, or in 1803 a thin hollow piece of hay. We created this recipe for Brookfields Vineyard where last weekend we celebrated their 70th year in winemaking with a New Orleans styled bourbon/jazz evening.
Ingredients:
60ml Southern Comfort
1/4 Fresh Peach Cubed
5 Leaves of Fresh Mint
1 tsp of White Sugar
Dash of Fee Brothers Peach Bitters
Crushed Ice
Method:
Place peach cubes, fresh mint and white sugar into a
tumbler glass, firmly muddle ingredients until peach
juice infuses with the mint and sugar. Fill glass with
crushed ice then pour Southern Comfort through the
crushed ice. Decorate with mint and serve with one small
straw. Finish with a dash of bitters.
