Gisselbrecht Pinot Gris 2013
09 March 2015

Grape Variety: 100% Pinot Gris

Growing Region: Alsace, France

Owner / Winemaker: Claude Gisselbrecht

TASTING NOTE:
Claude and his family have been respected winegrowers since the 17th century, though it was from 1936 with Willy Gisselbrecht that the winery began to gain its reputation. They own 17ha of vines in the best soils of Dambach-la-Ville and the surrounding villages - and their wines have seduced wine enthusiasts the world over.

Their vineyards are meticulously maintained during their long, mild growing season, culminating in the ultimate satisfaction of balanced fruit at harvest time. All of their fruit is harvest by hand, ensuring the highest quality through careful bunch and even berry selection and also careful handling back to the winery - which is only a short distance from each of the vineyard sites.

Philippe Gisselbrecht is the viticulturist and his focus is on preserving the fruits natural bright flavours and subtle aromas of Pinot Gris. The families' years of experience are the key to their quality wines, creating unique, fragrant well balanced elegant wines.

As you pour this wine you will have a pale golden straw colour shining in your glass. On the nose this 2013 Pinot Gris has lifted Nashi pear, sweet apples and a subtle citrus note complimented by a hint of spice in the background. On the palate this wine is well balanced with good structure, showcasing all of those full ripe pear characters; lifted fragrance and subtle hints of ginger spice. This wine is nicely supported by natural bright acidity giving the wine a lingering refreshing finish. Chill and serve at 8-10C.
