Jules Taylor 'Marlborough' Sauvignon Blanc 2014
05 January 2015

Grape Variety: 100% Sauvignon Blanc

Growing Region: Marlborough, New Zealand

Owner / Winemaker: Jules Taylor

TASTING NOTE:
The fruit for this Sauvignon Blanc was harvested from late March through to early April. With the selected fruit parcels grown in the: Hawkesbury, Lower Wairau and Awatere Valley sub-regions of the Marlborough. Jules choices each parcel of fruit for its specific contribution to the aroma, flavour profile and structure of the resulting blend. It sounds so easy when you hear that - 'the winemaking was deliberately kept simple' - but this only comes with vast experience, confidence and a high level of skills to interpret each parcel as it comes into the winery. The grapes were harvested, pressed and cold settled over a period of about 48 hours. After racking off the juice lees, a long cool fermentation with selected yeasts took place. Post fermentation, selected components were blended, stabilised and bottled under screw-cap, to retain the fruits natural freshness.

In the glass this wine has a pale lime colour with a shining golden hue. On the nose the aromatics leap from the glass with an explosion of passion-fruit, white fleshed nectarines, gooseberry and notes of tomato leaf. This 2014 Sauvignon carries these lifted aromatics through onto the palate, which is loaded with fresh, vibrant tropical flavours and well balanced with herbaceous characters. The wine has a well defined backbone of citrus integrity, along with an expressive mouth-feel which lingers, developing a long, bright dry finish. Chill and serve at 8-10C.
