Grape Varieties: Pinot Noir, Pinot Meunier, Chardonnay
Growing Region: Reims, France
Chef de Cave: Regis Camus
TASTING NOTE:
Piper-Heidsieck Cuvee Brut NV is a classic style, elegantly structured and bursting with citrus fruits. Composed of a majority of Pinot Noir, incorporating more than 100 crus from around the Champagne region and Pinot Meunier from the Grande et Petite Montagne de Reims region. The blend is aged for a minimum of 24 months on its lees before release.
From amongst their vineyards planted with traditional grape varieties, an honored place is given to Pinot Noir which can make up to 55 - 60% giving structure to the blend. Chardonnay can be from 10 - 15% of the cuvee and adds layers and elegant characters. Pinot Meunier plays a key role comprising 15 - 20% which expands the cuvee and adds subtle detail and fresh fruit notes.
As you pour the flute will be filled with a pale, golden glow, with delicate fine bubbles bursting from the base. On the subtle nose you will find fresh fruits, with pear and citrus notes, morning crisp apple and subtle hints of toastiness and springtime blossom.
Intentionally made in a forward and approachable style - the palate has good structure, lively and fresh, with interwoven layers of crisp pear, subtle hints of pineapple, nutmeg, white pepper and oriental zest. The finale gives it full attention to citrus and grapefruit flavours that create a pleasing and refreshing mouth-feel and a harmonious balance to the crisp and lively finish. Chill and serve at 8C.
