Grape Variety: 100% Syrah
Growing Region: Languedoc, South France
Owner / Chief Winemaker: Jean-Claude Mas
TASTING NOTE:
Jean-Claude is proud of this wine's Mediterranean origins, and was determined to show off this Rose's fresh and vibrant summer flavours. This Rose wine is French in origin, but leaps out of the glass with a vibrant attitude and style.
After the grapes were picked at night to reduce oxidization - they were kept cool at 10C, with a gentle pressing, only the free run juice was used. Fermentation was for approx 3 weeks and at an average of 17C with selected yeast to best express the fresh aromatics and fruit characters. The wine is aged on its lees with regular 'batonnage' (lee stirring) for approximately 5-6 weeks in new coated cement vats. During this process Jean-Claude looks to maintain a maximum of fruit expression and concentration with regular pumping over.
In the glass the wine has an intense candy-floss pink colour. On the nose ripe, sweet red cherries, and wild floral aromas intertwine with those soft fruit candy notes. The palate is vibrant and well balanced with refreshing natural acidity. This Rose wine has confident fresh red fruit characters lifted by moderate alcohol and a lingering lively finish. Gently chill and serve between 10-12C.
