Piper Heidsieck Rose Sauvage NV
09 December 2013

Grape Variety: 100% Pinot Noir

Growing Region: Reims, France

Chef de Cave / Winemaker: Regis Camus

TASTING NOTE:
The words that have been used to describe this Rose Champagne include: audacious, contemporary, elegant and playful. This Rose Sauvage is definitely unlike any other rose champagne. This rose champagne is made through assemblage in strict accordance with the regulations of the Champagne wine region.

The vibrant colour is obtained through a significantly higher proportion of Pinot Noir which was vinified into red wine, before being added to the blend before secondary fermentation. Bottle aging and palate development was for a period of 24 months in the cellars to complete its magic. After resting for a period of time in the winery cellars in Reims - this Rose was dressed, packaged and gratefully greeted by wine markets the world-over.

This Piper Heidsieck Rose Sauvage NV classic blend is a generous, full-bodied Champagne. In the glass you have a flamboyant, scarlet red colour - which has become a recognisable signature of Piper. On the nose you will find rich and expressive red fruits which include - blackcurrant, blackberry, cherry and wild strawberries, freshened with citrus, mandarin and blood orange.

On the palate this Champagne is vibrant, luscious and a refreshing wine which simultaneously offers black cherry, blackberry, pink grapefruit, red plums, clementines - and just a touch of pistachio. This wines structure and fruit forward nature is enriched with warm, subtle notes of Asian spice rounding of the lively finish. Chill and serve at 8C.
