Cocktail of the Week
A Simple Delicious Pitcher Recipe
01 March 2011

Vermouth is an underestimated, underused, and misunderstood aromatised wine (not fortified as commonly believed) - well here in NZ anyway. Most bars and restaurants Vermouth bottle only see's the light of day for the occasional Dry Martini or Manhattan Cocktail. Yes Vermouth is an essential ingredient in the ever popular classics but it is more commonly used as the base of a mixed drink, spritzer or pitcher cocktail recipe.

Vermouth is a wine so it will be oxidized within a week or so after opening. I can guarantee there are at least 1000 bars and restaurants across the country with vermouth dating back to 2009 or even "dare I say" beyond. Keep your Vermouth under air seal and refrigerated for extended shelf life. Dolin Vermouth de Chambery is a Vermouth unlike any other, rich and flavourful with all natural and 100% fresh ingredients - the last independently family owned premium Vermouth producer. I know what I'm having on the deck tomorrow afternoon.

250ml Dolin Vermouth Blanc

60ml Fresh Lemon Juice

30ml Sugar Syrup

Tonic Water

Fresh orange slices and mint leaves (and assorted other fruit you enjoy)
