The backdrop of Drouin Calvados involves a history of cider production dating back to 1638 - though the story of Drouin Calvados as we know it today, began around 1960. When a phylloxera outbreak devastated the vineyards of France and Europe, calvados experienced a "golden age" in the 19th Century - and it is here Christian Drouin began to make his mark. Christian Drouin, an industrialist from Rouen, had a renowned taste for good food and good wines. When he bought a farm in Gonneville he decided to use the cider-apple orchards to produce calvados - Apple Brandy. Mixed here with the citrus and vanilla flavours of Tuaca - the flavours blend perfectly for a palate cleansing after dinner drink.
