Recently established in 2012, Melbourne Gin Company is the handmade artsian gin from winemaker, now distiller, Andrew Marks.
The Melbourne Gin Company is an independent distillery with an artisan production approach. The gin range is hand crafted, batch distilled and non chill filtered. This truly unique gin is produced by distilling each of the 11 botanicals individually before blending to produce a complex, savoury and elegant style of gin.
Melbourne Gin Company gin goes well in a classic martini or served with tonic water a slice of grapefruit. DRY GIN. HAND CRAFTED. BATCH DISTILLED. NON CHILL FILTERED.
Andrew Marks was born and raised in Melbourne and lives in inner-city Collingwood.
He is the winemaker at his family property Gembrook Hill Vineyard and makes wine under his own label The Wanderer Wines. Gembrook Hill Vineyard is situated in the Yarra Valley an hour south-east of Melbourne and is where the Melbourne Gin Company Gins are distilled.
After completing winemaking studies at Adelaide University Andrew was employed at Penfolds in the Barossa Valley. He has made wine in France, Spain and the USA before returning to Gembrook Hill in 2005.
In 2009 a love for gin Martinis and fascination with the notion of the unattainable ideal drink led Andrew into the world of distillation. As a result, The Melbourne Gin Company has been established in 2012.
