Wine of the Week
Arrogant Frog 'Ribet Pink' Syrah Rose 2007
06 January 2009

Grape Variety: 100% Syrah

Growing Region: Languedoc, South France

Chief Winemaker: Jean-Claude Mas

TASTING NOTE:
Arrogant Frog was born in the Languedoc region of southern France, between the Mediterranean Sea and the Herault valley. It is a wine proud of its Mediterranean origins, and determined to show off its fresh new flavours. This Frog is typically French, but leaps out of the glass with New World attitude and style.

After the grapes were picked and cooled, only the free run juice was used. Fermentation was for approx 3 weeks and at an average of 17C with selected yeast to best express the aromas and fruit characters. The wine was aged on its lees with regular batonnage (lee stirring) for 40 days in new coated cement vats. During the ageing process their aim was to maintain a maximum of fruit expression and concentration due to regular pumping over of the wine. This is a mechanical process during the night in order to avoid premature oxidization.

In the glass you have an intense cherry pink colour wine. The nose is complex with cherries, toffee and floral aromas evolving toward soft candied fruit notes. The palate is ripe and well balanced. Fresh fruity characters and a long finish. Best served at approx 10-12C.
