Pol Roger Brut Rose - Vintage 2000
16 December 2008

Grape Variety: 60% Pinot Noir 40% Chardonnay

Growing Region: Epernay, France

Chef des Caves: Dominique Petit

TASTING NOTE:
Independence and Excellence since 1849 - Champagne Pol Roger, Epernay.

Pol Roger is one of the few remaining great family-owned Champagne houses. An unrivalled reputation within the trade has been guaranteed by the consistent excellence of the wines: a tribute to the incredible diligence of the selection of the cuvees directed by members of the Pol-Roger family and the Chef des Caves, Dominique Petit.

With stock equivalent to five years normal sales, a major investment programme, and among the coolest and deepest cellars in Epernay, the Pol Roger range of Champagnes offers a glimpse of the sublime.

An alluring and intense golden pink in colour. The nose is powerful and concentrated and initially shows ripe red fruits such as wild strawberries and raspberries. The wine is lively and retains a refreshing lightness throughout with hints of dried fruits such as apricot and subtle aromas of mint which underline the lightness and to the palate with it's sensuous flavours of ripe Pinot Noir. The finish reveals the wine's youthfulness and suggests that it has a bright future both on its own and when paired with food.

CELLARING POTENTIAL:
Drinking perfectly well this coming summer; and over the next 2-3 years.

SUGGESTED FOOD MATCHES:
