Wine of the Week
Chapel Hill The Parson Cabernet Sauvignon 2014
28 July 2016

Growing Region: Mclaren Vale, New Zealand

Winemaker: Michael Fragos and Bryn Richards

Chapel Hill Winery in McLaren Vale was built on the site of the Seaview Methodist chapel and school house. The 1865 ironstone chapel still stands today and is an integral feature of the popular tasting room. The winery founder, Thomas Nelson, hand planted the vineyard on the estate starting in 1973. Oerched on the edge of the spectacular Onkaparinga Gorge at the northern end of McLaren Vale, shallow rocky soils are a feature of the site with some of the geology formations dating back 600 million years.

The Parsons Cabernet Sauvignon has a wonderfully structured palate is both eloquently pure and broodingly complex. The palate is further supported by an array of intricately fine tannins which are both mouth-wateringly savoury and defiantly persistent.

Receiving a Gold Medal, and 96 Points from the Decanter World Wine Awards on top of a further 5 Stars and 94 points from Sam Kim of Wine Orbit.

Having been awarded 90 Points from both James Haliday and James Suckling and a Silver Medal from the New Zealand International Wine Awards this wine offers true value and quality.
