Wine of the Week
Tupari Sauvignon Blanc 2007
30 October 2007

Grape Varieties: 100% Sauvignon Blanc

Growing Region: Awatere Valley, Marlborough

Winemaker: Glenn Thomas

TASTING NOTE:

This 2007 vintage is another expression of the highest caliber from one of New Zealand's leading Sauvignon Blanc exponents. You have heard myself and many others say time and time again, you make good wine in the vineyard. But when you are working with such an excitable grape and only having a short and limited influence on the variety before it goes out into the world, you have to make every decision, winemaking technique count and balance perfectly. Glenn does take a little longer than most to release his new vintage each year, fermenting 10% in old barriques and left on lees for several months. The resulting wine shows lifted passion-fruit on the nose, with hints of white peach and apricot. On the palate you have a richly textured wine with persistent white peach flavours and a long fresh, creamy finish.

CELLARING POTENTIAL:

Drinking now and over the next 2 years.

SUGGESTED FOOD MATCHES:

Perfect with seared tuna, scallops and other fresh seafood dishes.
