Grape Variety: 100% Riesling
Growing Region: Martinborough, New Zealand
Owner / Winemaker: Roger Parkinson
TASTING NOTE:
It was only back in 2006 that Roger first released the 'Three Paddles' range of wines - and this 2013 Riesling is packed with bright citrus characters and ready for action with any light summer dinning occasion. Roger has crafted this vibrant wine from his own 'Home Block' vineyards where he can ensure all details are attended too. It also allows that every decision having any bearing on the wine, is consistent with his clear focus of producing quality Martinborough wine.
The carefully harvested grapes from the vineyard located just behind the winery; underwent cool fermentation in stainless steel tanks to retain their lifted aromatic notes and lively personality.
In the glass you have a bright, pale golden/green glow to the wine. The nose exhibits typical regional aromatic characteristics of ripe citrus fruits with subtle mineral notes and white honey. Those lime and mineral flavours carry through and lift the palate - as the wine is made in an off-dry style, the wine is softly textured and finishes crisp and fresh. Well balanced with natural acidity, a dash of residual sugar and 12% alcohol. Chill and serve at 8-10C.
CELLARING POTENTIAL:
Drinking perfectly well this summer season; and through until the end of 2015.
SUGGESTED FOOD MATCHES:
Perfect wine pairing with seafood, shellfish, lighter style Asian cuisine and summer salads, enjoy.
An approachable, citrus driven wine.
