Cocktail of the Week
Rum Runners Manhattan
07 September 2010

What do Marilyn Monroe, Christina Applegate and Renee Zellweger have in common? Perhaps many things but one thing I can say, is they have all mentioned 'The Manhattan' cocktail in various movies!

Manhattan is arguably one of the most portrayed and idolised places in the world and so it seems fit that the cocktail with its name sake has just as much Pop Culture and myth surrounding it.

Traditionally made with Whisky, its combinations seem infinitely varied. The origins are debated but its roots are traceable back to the late 1800's Manhattan, New York City. This version, the Rum Runners Manhattan honours the world's oldest Rum, Mount Gay, by combining the versatile Golden Eclipse Rum and the Extra Old Rum. Drink to History, Fame and Fortune when you sip this cocktail.

INGREDIENTS:
30ml Mount Gay Eclipse Rum

30ml Mount Gay XO Rum

15ml Dolin Rouge Vermouth

2 dashes Fee Brothers Peach Bitters

METHOD:
Add all ingredients into a Boston mixing glass with ice. Stir well until good dilution is reached. Strain into a chilled cocktail glass.

GARNISH:
Garnish with a maraschino cherry.
