First created in France in 1875 by Edouard Cointreau, Cointreau is made from a blend of sweet and bitter orange peels, alcohol, and sugar. Cointreau is widely used in cocktails and is a key ingredient in many classic drinks, such as the Margarita and the Cosmopolitan. It is known for its smooth, sweet taste and distinct orange flavor.

Classic Margarita
The Margarita was originally created when Dallas socialite Margarita Sames mixed her two favorite spirits, Cointreau and tequila, together with lime juice while on vacation in Acapulco back in 1948. This original Margarita recipe has stood the test of over 70 years time.
Ingredients
  • 30ml Cointreau
  • 50ml El Jimador Tequila
  • 20ml Master of Mixes Lime Juice
Method
  • Make a salt rim on your glass
  • Combine all ingredients in a shaker with ice
  • Shake vigorously until well chilled
  • Strain into a Margarita glass and garnish with a lime wheel
Cosmopolitan
The rise of Cosmopolitan marked the return of premium and fresh ingredients to the cocktail glass. This pink blushed beauty is one of the most revered modern Cointreau classic.

  • 30ml Cointreau
  • 60ml Vodka
  • 30ml Cranberry juice
  • 30ml Lime juice
Method
  • Combine all ingredients in a cocktail shaker
  • Add ice and shake until well-chilled
