The San Francisco World Spirits Competition held its 11th annual competition at the hotel Nikko on March 18, 19, and 20. A record number of entries, 1106 products from 61 countries, were evaluated by 33 of the finest palates from the spirits industry including twelve new judges. These judging panels were comprised of spirits experts from noted restaurants and hotels, well-known spirits journalists from major national media, spirits buyers for large purveyors, and spirits consultants. Judging is based on a blind, consensual procedure ensuring competitive integrity, making this competition the most reputable and recognized competition in the spirits industry.
Finlandia Grapefruit Vodka not only won a 'Double Gold' but was also voted 'Best Flavoured Vodka' - the top honour at this year's 2011 competition. The Finlandia Classic Vodka also received a Silver Medal.
The 'Best in Show' are 'Double Gold' winning spirits that have been elevated to the final round of competition and are judged and then awarded by the entire group of judges as the very best in each category. Representing the finest examples of their respective types, these spirits are worthy of special consideration.
