Yealands Marlborough Sauvignon Blanc 2008
24 February 2009

Grape Variety: 100% Sauvignon Blanc

Growing Region: Seaview Vineyard, Marlborough

Winemaker: Tamra Washington

TASTING NOTE:
The fruit for this expressive wine was sourced from the Seaview vineyard. The rolling contours of the property result in significant variations in character of the grapes - (smaller, more intensely flavoured fruit on the ridges, are equally balanced by lush growth in the gullies).

Tamra and her wine team carefully monitored each unique site as to when to harvest each individual parcel of Sauvignon Blanc and fermented these parcels individually, with 8 being selected for this Yealands Sauvignon Blanc. A long cool fermentation (3 weeks) ensured optimal fruit characteristics were maintained and expressed in the glass.

In all, over 50 separate parcels of Sauvignon Blanc were harvested from the Seaview Vineyard, with the bouquet of the resulting wines ranging from intense passion fruit through to lifted citrus and fresh herb aromas, underpinned by classic Seaview vineyard characteristics of tomato leaf, mineral, nettle and wet stone. On the palate you have an intense wine with generous fruit and an elegant texture that excites your taste buds and leaves them wanting more.

CELLARING POTENTIAL:
Drinking perfectly well now and over the next 12 months.

SUGGESTED FOOD MATCHES:
Perfect wine match with grilled fresh white fish and seasonal green vegetables, enjoy.
